I am a first year graduate student at Seattle Pacific University. I have just recently (June 2009!) graduated from Cal Poly State University in San Luis Obispo with a degree in Biochemistry. I relocated to Redmond shortly after graduation because my boyfriend, Tony, got a job at Microsoft
. Although I have always lived in California, I am looking forward to starting a new life here in Washington. I have several hobbies, including wake boarding (when I can find a friend with a boat, eventually I’ll get one of my own), scuba diving, playing soccer (if anyone knows of any pick-up games, I’d love to play), reading, scrapbooking, sewing, making jewelry, and, of course, hanging out with kids. I love baby-sitting, teaching Sunday school, working at summer camps, anything where I can be around kids. I’ve always wanted to make a career of something that has to do with kids, and I picked teaching because of my love of science. I want to show students that science is more than listening to a lecture a reading a textbook. It’s about discovery and wonder, and I hope to show my students just that.
